A work in progress...

This is a view from a recent walk I took up the Stiperstones in Shropshire. It was an absolutely beautiful February day, but I admit I have made it look much moodier in this painting. I've gone for quite a muted pallette, as I want to have a go at drawing over the top (got me a new fine line Sharpie!). Results to follow, fingers crossed...

Mackerel at a Fish Market

I've decided I need to spend some time working on subject matter that is not trees....and for some reason Mackerel in a fish market was the first thing that popped into my mind. Now I'm assuming that in the depths of my subconscious I had remembered the amazing colours in a fish market, but I can't quite say why this had suddenly come to me. Nevermind, I'm quite pleased with it anyway. What do you think? (Please excuse the reflection -I was so excited I already framed it!)

Im back!

I've been away for a little while as my laptop sadly passed into the "scrap" stage of it's life. to be taken apart and used for spare parts by someone much smarter than myself! However, I haven't been idle over the festive period and just to prove it here are a few photos to show what I've been up to.

My first linocut

Here are some photos of my first attempt of linocut printing. I've just been playing around with cutting, I think the quality of the cuts is reflected in the price I paid for the cutter (£2!) so I've decided to splash out a few extra quid and maybe get some better cuts, along with a couple of other colours.......probably not what I should be spending my money on in the run up to christmas but I just can't help myself!

My new projects

So in the midst of everything I've decided to take up some new projects. I recently decided to learn knitting as a bit of a side project (something to do when my brain is feeling a bit fuzzy, i don't mean to say knitting in a real sense is easy, but it is the way I do it (big long straight chunky knit scarves for Christmas presents!)

At the other end of my project list I have been trying to decide on my Christmas card designs. However, after a visit to a contemporary craft fair on Saturday I have been immensely inspired by printing again, so I have decided to have a go at lino printing. The necessary equipment has been ordered so watch this space!!!!

Origami

I won't lie this required a LOT of supervision and guidance from a very patient friend, but I'm well chuffed with it now!
